M.I.A. "Vicki Leekz" Mixtape
Friday, January 7, 2011 at 4:53PM Thanks to my Pitchfork RSS feed for calling my attention to M.I.A.'s newest, self-released mixtape "Vicki Leekz," I will be downloading new music by M.I.A. tonight. Check it out here for yourself...
As a side note, I wasn't aware that M.I.A. had released another album after "Kala," although I'm not so sure I want to check it out after briefly skimming this review by Pitchfork. And while I would strongly discourage anyone from putting too much trust in such reviews, I am also of the opinion that a simple mishap such as that of missing the last release by a musician I like might have been a happy coincidence...
Whatever the circumstances of this latest release though, I am very much looking forward to hearing some new music by an artist I've very much enjoyed in the past. If you are unfamiliar with M.I.A., which I would find quite surprising after the success of both the track "Paper Planes" (see video below) and the movie "Slumdog Millionaire," then I recommend you check out both "Kala" (2007 album release) and "Arular" (2005 album release). OR, you can just watch the video below.
